Channel 5 have been accused by 'faking' locations for their new thriller Deadline after viewers found out where the new thriller was really filmed.
The four parts eries sees James D’Arcy play James Alden, an investigative journalist who becomes captivated by a case about a woman who is the prime suspect for her husband's murder.. The woman in question is Natalie Varga (played by Peaky Blinders star Charlie Murphy), who stands accused of killing her other half.
Much like Channel 5's other ratings winners so far this year, The Teacher, starring Sheridan Smith and Jill Halfpenny's The Holiday, Deadline has aired over consecutive nights, meaning it has dominated the prime 9pm slot for much of this week. But, while some viewers have blasted the plot, many have the same complaint and it's al to do with where the drama is meant to be based.

The majority of the action in Deadline is meant to be happening in London, but the fact is that, while producers have tried to convince those watching that the show i set in the capital city, the reality is strikingly different. Deadline was in fact shot across Europe in Budapest, in a move that echoes the production of The Teacher, which was meant to be set in Bradford but was actually filmed in Budapest too.
Viewers have flocked to Twitter to call out the location 'lie,' as, in a rather smart move, lead character James flied to Budapest as part of the storyline. One viewer posted: "I see he's going to Budapest to cover the fact that the UK doesn't actually look like Budapest," with another reacting: "Having #Deadline set in London but filming it in Budapest really spoils it."
Kelvin Fletcher was put on the spot about filming locations when he appeared on This Morning to promote The Teacher. The Strictly winner said: "It was a really great job and we filmed that in Budapest as well of all places."
Quick to react, host Alison Hammond asked: "Yeah, why did they film it there?!" to which Kelvin replied: "I'm not too sure. I don't know if it was a budget thing or, I think visually it sells as Budapest, errr as Bradford."
