Channel 4's A Place in the Sun host gives some harsh truths to buyers on lower budget

A host on Channel 4's A Place in the Sun has shared the harsh reality for buyers working on a smaller budget. Jean Johansson had some candid home truths for buyers on A Place in the Sun about their house budget on the show.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, fitness instructor Katie and her eldest son Michael travelled the world together, but the seaside town of Paphos in Cyprus was the one place they both fell in love with. During the episode on Tuesday, July 26, Katie decided to buy her very own holiday home in the town which her whole family could enjoy, and where she could escape the cold winters.

Host Jean came up with five great options to show them on the Channel 4 show to fit their budget of £80,000, with wiggle room of a couple of thousand pounds. They hoped for a property with one or two bedrooms, a nice outside area, a pool and a good view.

Jean said: "I'll be honest with you, the budget is ok. But for everything you want there will be compromises." But she was off to a great start as she showed them a one-bed apartment with a communal pool and two private balconies boasting beautiful views for £77,000.

However, they weren't as impressed with the second property since it was much smaller. But it still ticked a lot off their check list as it had a bridged communal pool, overlooked by the apartment’s large veranda which also had views of the sea.

On the third property, Jean showed the mum and son the shared pool and neither of them looked pleased. Katie said: "It's nothing like the last couple of properties."

Jean hit back, as she made note of their low budget. She said: "You wanted two bedrooms, didn't you? Well, there's not going to be a massive, sprawling pool for your budget. This is shared by 10 properties which is not bad."

Michael said: "This is not as nice pool wise." Jean replied as she said that the property ticked most of their other boxes but it was over budget at £91,000.

It was very spacious, with two double bedrooms but it just didn't wow the buyers and they weren't willing to part ways with their money. They weren't willing to look around the rest of the property.
