CHANNEL 4 News has unveiled its new Scotland correspondent to take over from Ciaran Jenkins.
Kathryn Samson will take on the role, the programme has announced, leaving her current role as STV’s Westminster editor, which she has held since 2019.
Jenkins announced his departure as Channel 4 News’ Scottish correspondent in March this year, leaving the Glasgow bureau for a new job with the programme in Yorkshire.
Samson, awarded the Royal Television Society’s nations and regions presenter of the year in 2022, said she had “always watched and admired” the programme.
She said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be taking on the role of Scotland correspondent for Channel 4 News, a programme I have always watched and admired.
“This is a great opportunity to find new voices, to tell people’s stories and to hold those who represent them to account.
“I look forward to working alongside some of the best journalists in the industry, and building on the excellent reputation of the Scotland bureau.”
Channel 4 News editor Esme Wren added: “We are delighted to be welcoming Kathryn to Channel 4 News to lead our Scotland coverage.
“With a fantastic reputation across political spheres and a strong instinct to tell complex stories in an accessible and creative way, I know our already stand-out Scotland coverage will go from strength-to-strength under Kathryn’s stewardship.
“We look forward to seeing her report for all our audiences, in Scotland and right across the UK.”
