Channel 4 News presenter Cathy Newman on ‘haunting’ reality of being a victim of deepfake pornography

Channel 4 News presenter Cathy Newman has opened up on the “haunting” reality of being a victim of deepfake pornography.

The journalist was looking into the abuse of women through AI images, when she discovered she had fallen victim and her face had been used to create deepfake pornography.

Ms Newman appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday (7 January) to discuss her experience as the government announced predators who create sexually explicit deepfake images could face up to two years in prison.

The Channel 4 presenter said: “The worst thing about it is not knowing who created the video and why.”
