Fans have said they were left ‘shocked and upset’ after It’s A Sin was ‘robbed’ of winning any awards at last night's BAFTA's ceremony.
Viewers expected the hard hitting Channel 4 show, which used parts of Liverpool to double up as New York City for filming, to sweep the board after it was announced at the end of the March the show had bagged a total of 11 nominations. Despite having nods in the mini-series, leading actor and leading actress categories, the critically acclaimed drama about the AIDS epidemic of the late 1980s and early 90s walked away empty handed.
Callum Scott Howells, who played Colin in the LGBTQ+ show, was in with a chance of winning the Must-See Moment prize for his heart-breaking AIDS diagnosis scene but lost out to Strictly Come Dancing's Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice's silent performance to Symphony by Clean Bandit.

To add further insult to injury, the ceremony, which was held at London’s Royal Festival hall on Sunday evening, appeared to mute the sound of clips used when actors Callum Scott Howells and David Carlyle were nominated in the Supporting Actor category.
While examples of each of the actor’s performances aired, the sound appeared to cut off in the middle. Acknowledging the pre-watershed time slot, viewers were confused why other clips showcasing the actor’s talents couldn’t have been used instead.

@joebovis added: "Something doesn’t sit quite right with me - It’s a Sin’s clips being muted (yet clips showing shootings were aired) AND the fact the series got completely overlooked. Let’s be honest, it was BY FAR the most incredible and gripping series in a very long time."
