Channel 4 Celebs Go Dating: Abz Love's heartbreak after finding out his fiancee was £2,000-a-night escort

Rapper and singer Abz Love of 5ive fame appears on the news series of Celebs Go Dating on Channel 4.

Love, whose real name is Richard Abidin Breen, has been through a difficult few years including a split from his fiancee in 2017.

The pair dated for eight years before the split and Love has been single since.

Love, 42, shot to fame in 1990s boyband 5ive with Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Jason “J” Brown. Their hits included Slam Dunk (Da Funk) and Everybody Get Up.

Five got together in 1997 and split up on 27 September 2001 after selling 25 million copies of their records worldwide. They got back together in 2013 for The Big Reunion.

In 2003, Love released his debut solo album Abstract Theory, which earned him a further three Top 10 hits. He quit the band for good in 2014 to become a farmer with girlfriend Vicky, 32, who he began dating in 2009.

The pair were featured on BBC Two show Country Strife: Abz on the Farm after purchasing a dilapidated farm in Carmarthenshire.

The romance ended in 2017 after they called off the engagement. On Twitter, Love wrote "Amore no more" and added a broken heart emoji.

He then tweeted: "Thank you for the time we shared together. It was a beautiful moment in my life.

"I wish you all the best. Take care."

Details of the split later came out after Love spoke to The Sunday Mirror in 2017. He said: “At the beginning of March she was going out a lot, partying and coming back late.

“She said she was hanging out with new people, doing different things and I was getting worried.

“Even in those moments we were talking about having a baby and getting married . But we were out one night and we used her phone for the satnav, so it was unlocked when I went to the car.

“I picked it up to bring it to Vicky and as I was walking back I saw the sugar daddy app and opened it.

“I went back to the car for a bit and read some of the messages. I also saw an app for AdultWork but it required a passcode, so later I found her profile on the website.

“I searched for escorts and there she was. I couldn’t believe it... the world started shaking. I took screen shots as her profile was still public before she deleted it.

“It was so horrible. She was my fiancée. It’s f****** filth. It’s more than £500 for two hours. I can’t believe I nearly married an escort.

“The next day I brought it up and she just looked at me and said: ‘It’s your fault, you haven’t had any work for two years, I’m glad you found out’. She was spitting so much venom at me.”

He added: “I’m a fool for love, I’m a bit of a nitwit and rubbish with money. I admit that."

Vicky said she was only on the app for "two weeks" and cited financial difficulties for her decision.

Since the end of their engagement, Love has not had any public relationships.

Celebs Go Dating is on E4 on Monday, January 17 at 9pm. Others in the line-up include TOWIE's Chloe Brockett, reality star Marty McKenna, Singer Abz Love and Apprentice contestant Ryan-Mark Parsons.
