Big Brother Australia 2025 has already given us tears, tantrums and at least three different “this show is rigged” moments (not actually, don’t worry). But the latest drama isn’t in the house — it’s in the fine print. Fans have clocked a sneaky little line on the voting screen that says “voting is for entertainment purposes only”, and it’s sent parts of the fandom into full tinfoil-hat mode.
On Reddit, fans pointed out that when they went to vote, a disclaimer popped up saying voting was “for entertainment purposes only”, sitting right under the housemates’ names and faces. Cue panic that producers had already picked who’s getting punted and that Australia’s “power” was just vibes.

One user said it would be a shame if the winner had basically been decided in week one, with the rest of the season just playing out around a pre-baked result.

That landed on top of an already spicy season, with accusations of faking results and general suspicion about edits and narrative favourites. So when that disclaimer popped up, it felt like confirmation bias for everyone who already low-key believed the show was cooked.
What Channel 10 says about your vote

In light of those concerns, Channel 10 has directly addressed whether the vote actually counts or not. A 10 spokesperson said:
“Every vote matters. In fact, they matter so much that we have an auditor from Ernst and Young present at the start and stop of every vote to officially confirm and record the outcome.”
Bringing in an external auditor like Ernst & Young is standard practice for a lot of big TV votes and is meant to lock in the results independently, rather than letting production quietly fudge things behind the scenes. So, according to 10, when you’re smashing that vote for your fave, those numbers are being formally tallied and signed off.
So… why say “for entertainment only”?
That cursed wording is more about legal butt-covering than producers pulling names out of a hat. Similar disclaimers have appeared on other TV voting systems to limit liability and most probably to ensure that people know voting is purely for entertainment purposes as opposed to any monetary gain.
Still, fans are watching closely, especially with only two episodes to go till we find out this year’s winner!
Big Brother Australia is on Monday to Friday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7pm. Watch and live stream 24/7 on 10play or on TikTok @bigbrotherau.
