Changing Room viewers crack up after house's 'Mr Blobby' makeover

The Changing Rooms reboot is back on Channel 4 and, much like its original predecessor the home makeover show is still creating classic TV moments, or should we say, upsetting homeowners with its jaw-dropping redecorations.

In the latest episode, which aired on Wednesday, August 10, viewers of the show were aghast as Eddie and Lotta were faced with a vivid pink and yellow living room after the team had worked their magic.

Designer Whinnie Williams described her work as "granny chic" with a "sweet and sugary spin", but as one of the owners appeared to tear up, many suspected they were more upset than moved by the décor.

But viewers were going back to the '90s for their comparisons, with many pointing out that the room now looked like a homage to irritatingly popular TV character, Mr Blobby, reported MirrorOnline.

One viewer tweeted: "Mr Blobby would love those two 'Granny chic' rooms."

Agreeing, a second asked: "Is that Mr Blobby's home?!" as another added: "Mr Blobby’s house comes to mind! #changingrooms AWFUL."

Eddie and Lotta had entrusted their 1930s property in Tunbridge Wells to Changing Rooms' Whinnie Williams, who told the couple: "I really wanted to use nice pastel colours. It is a nod to the Art Deco era. It's granny chic." Eddie told Whinnie he "really liked" his new pink sofa, with Lotta adding: "I don't feel like I'm in our room...in a good way."

But she added: "It is much more pink than we would have done." At the end of the show, it was revealed the couple have since repainted their yellow ceiling white.

Winnie is one of the new interior designers on the show this series, alongside newcomer Micaela Sharp, with carpenter and joiner Tibby Singh back to help bring the designers’ visions to life.
