Changes Made to Apex Legends Battle Pass & Players Aren't Happy About It

A big change arrives. (Credit: Respawn)

Respawn Entertainment announced early this week that they were making changes to the Battle Pass for Apex Legends. There's actually a lot of changes and today we'll take a quick look at some of them.

For starters, the Battle Pass is going to be split. In the past, there was only one Battle Pass each season with players needing to go through 110 levels. With the change, there's going to be one Battle Pass for each split and each one offering 60 levels each. According to the studio, this should allow players to get better rewards.

The Tracks

With the change in how the Battle Pass is implemented, there's going to be more rewards. For the Free Track for example, each split offers 200 AC, which means a maximum of 400 AC up for grabs each season. Cosmetics are also getting an upgrade.

Those who go for the Premium Track meanwhile can get 2400 Crafting Materials, 1300 AC, and 10 Exotic Shards per Battle Pass. There's also increase Apex Packs for each Battle Pass.

AC No Longer Allowed

However, without question, the most controversial change would have to be the pricing. In the past, players could purchase a Battle Pass by using Apex Coins. That means by simply playing the game, they get the chance to buy a Battle Pass. For some reason, it appears that the studio doesn't want any more of that. Instead, players now have to fork out $9.99 for each Battle Pass. Take note that this is for the Premium Track.

But wait, there's more! There's also what's known as Premium+ which costs $19.99. It basically just gives you additional Apex Coins and items.

It goes without saying that a lot of players are not happy with this particular. While the new system does offer more rewards, letting players use real world doesn't really sit well with some.

What do you think about this change?

Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale-hero shooter game released in 2019 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. It was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2021 and ported to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. A mobile version titled Apex Legends Mobile was also made available in 2022 for iOS and Android.
