A change to the service of the coronation for King Charles III has been confirmed. The King is being crowned at Westminster Abbey by the Archbishop of Canterbury during a coronation ceremony dating back centuries.
A call to millions watching to swear allegiance to the King had been expected, with the public given an active role in the ancient ceremony for the first time in history.
But it is understood the move has been scrapped at the last minute following a backlash.
