Change of college allowed in standard XII only in genuine cases: Deputy director of education for Pune

PUNE: The deputy director of education for Pune division, Audumbar Ukirde, has said students would be allowed to change junior college in Standard XII only in “genuine” cases, such as transfer of parent/s, the family shifting to a new address far from the present college or medical reasons. Besides, a no-objection certificate from the desired college would be required before submitting the application seeking change.

Std XI admissions are carried out in a centralized manner based on merit. “If the student’s parents are transferred, or if the student is unable to cope with the stream or medium s/he has chosen in Std XI and

wants to change it, or if there is a medical condition or if the student has changed her/ his residence and the college allocated for FYJC is far from the one where s/he now stays, then in such genuine cases, we try to help out the student provided s/he brings relevant supporting documents. However, they first need to get an NOC from the college s/he desires to get admission in for Std XII before intimating the deputy director’s office to allow changes in the database,” he said.

Rajendra Zunjarrao, principal at Modern College of Arts Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, said he has already received about 30 applications enquiring vacancies in Std XII. “This attrition is generally from smaller colleges to bigger ones,” he said.

According to Zunjarrao, colleges known to conduct classes well, especially for science streams, are most in demand. “Besides, many colleges have an in-house quota for students from their own junior colleges,” he said.
