Matthieu Blazy went straight to the source for Chanel's Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Presented at Paris Fashion Week on October 5, the designer's 83-look runway show explored the evolution of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's personal style, revisiting the codes she established while giving them a lighter, more flexible and distinctly contemporary treatment.
The message was established from the very first look. Model Dyanira Hurbuscher opened the show in a gauzy white dress with a feathery rosette at the bust, carrying Gabrielle Chanel's own black quilted 2.55 handbag from the house archives. She would return in the finale, again carrying the historic bag, this time with a black collarless tweed jacket and coordinating pencil skirt.
The choice neatly captured Blazy's approach to the collection: Chanel's history was present, but it was not treated as something frozen in time.
