Nara Bhuvaneswari, wife of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday formally launched the ‘Nijam Gelavali Yatra’ (Truth should win) from Tirupati district.
The yatra was planned to console the kin of the people who died in the wake of the arrest of Mr. Naidu in the alleged Skill Development case and prolonged detention in Rajamahendravaram jail. This is the first time Ms. Bhuvaneswari, who has stayed away from politics, is making a full-scale public appearance.

Even as a large contingent of party leaders and workers reached Naravaripalle village in Chandragiri mandal, the native village of her husband, she started the tour on a sentimental note by garlanding the statue of her father, former Chief Minister Late N.T. Rama Rao.
As per the itinerary, Ms. Bhuvaneswari will tour Tirupati, Chandragiri and Srikalahasti constituencies of Tirupati district during the current phase. Similarly, she will visit party followers in constituencies of every district across the State.
On the first day, she called on the family members of the deceased people A. Praveen Reddy of Chandragiri and K. Chinnabba of Nendragunta and granted cheques of ₹3 lakh to each. She assured then of the party’s support.
