CHANDIGARH: Another fire incident occurred at the PGI tertiary care center on Monday morning, nearly a week after a section of the Nehru hospital was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage were reported at the advanced eye center. The cause of this fire, like the previous one at Nehru hospital, was attributed to a short circuit in the UPS batteries.
At the time of the incident, there were thousands of patients in the advanced eye center's OPD, and the fire broke out around 9:30 in the morning. Officials quickly responded, and the fire was contained within just five minutes. It's worth noting that the UPS panel responsible for the short circuit is located in the building's basement, away from patient areas.
