Chandigarh: 1.5 kg RDX in bag, could have made 20 ft wide hole in wall

CHANDIGARH: A total of 1.5 kg of RDX was found in the bag placed along the boundary wall of Burail jail — enough to cause a 20-foot wide hole in the wall — according to police investigation that is yet to find out the motive.

It could be a bid to free terrorists or gangsters lodged in the jail, hinted sources in the police department. Police teams of crime branch and operation cell interrogated Jagtar Singh Tara and Paramjit Singh Bheora, militants of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), and other hardcore criminals in the jail. Both Bheora and Tara were convicted in the murder of former Punjab CM Beant Singh.
