Champions League tables 2023-24: Group standings, fixtures and results for matchday 2

Newcastle announced the return of Champions League football to St James’ Park with a famous win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The Toon Army made light work of PSG, running out 4-1 winners on Tyneside on a historic night for the club. Manchester City, meanwhile, beat RB Leipzig 3-1 and Celtic lost late to Lazio.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United were beaten on Tuesday night as the second round of the Champions League group stage got underway on Tuesday.

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 away at Lens on a night where Bukayo Saka limped off injured on what could be a very costly night for Mikel Arteta, with Manchester City up next in the Premier League.

United, meanwhile, saw their crisis continue in a 3-2 home defeat to Galatasaray during which Casemiro was sent off.

Real Madrid - largely thanks to Jude Bellingham - and Braga were amongst the other winners on the night, along with Bayern Munich.
