Champions League final tickets hit £9,000 on eve of Liverpool vs Real Madrid showdown

Tickets for the Champions League final in Paris were on Friday morning being offered for sale on third-party websites for more than £9,000 as desperate fans scramble for a last-minute route into the showpiece.

The clash between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Stade de France has sold out and Uefa have warned fans against purchasing through unofficial channels, with touts and scammers looking to take advantage of the sky-high demand.

One Liverpool fan this week told of being conned out of £19,000 after buying 19 fake tickets for family and friends at £1,000 each, while the Anfield club says it has cancelled the tickets of 13 fans who were caught trying to sell their tickets online.

Undeterred, however, one seller on a popular football ticketing website was this morning offering VIP tickets for just shy of £10,000 each, while even the cheapest restricted view seats available were being re-sold at more than £1,800. At face value, tickets in Uefa’s initial fan ballot ranged between €70 and €690.

Liverpool and Real Madrid have each received an allocation of just 20,000 tickets despite the stadium being set to host 75,000 people as the Reds seek a seventh European Cup and Madrid a record-extending 14th.
