Chelsea will play Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16, while Manchester City will once again play Real Madrid and Newcastle will take on Barcelona in a glamour tie.
Liverpool drew Galatasaray while Tottenham were paired with Atletico Madrid. Premier League leaders Arsenal, meanwhile, will play Bayer Leverkusen. Bodo/Glimt, this season’s surprise package, will face Sporting - after the Norwegian minnows knocked out last season’s finalists Inter.
This morning’s draw did not just create the last-16 schedule, but revealed the path of the Champions League final, as teams also discovered who they could face if they progress to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Should Arsenal advance, they will play the winners of Bodo/Glimt’s tie with Sporting - with the Gunners also drawn in the same half of the draw as Newcastle, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham.
Should Liverpool advance, they will play either Chelsea or PSG in the quarter-finals, while Manchester City would play either Bayern Munich or Atalanta if they progress past Real Madrid.

Champions League dates as Uefa set to confirm schedule
14:00 , Jamie BraidwoodThe last-16 first legs will be played across Tuesday 10 March and Wednesday 11 March, with the return legs held the following week. With the exception of Newcastle, who qualified for the last-16 via the play-offs, every other English team will be at home for the second leg.
The last-16 schedule will be confirmed by Uefa this evening.
Tottenham's tie with Atletico evokes memories of better days
13:45 , Jamie BraidwoodTottenham, who are facing up to the very real threat of relegation from the Premier League, will seek salvation in the form of just a second-ever meeting with Atletico Madrid and their first since the 1963 Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup final, as Spurs became the first English side to win a European title.
Should Tottenham advance, they would face either Newcastle or Barcelona.

Newcastle and Barcelona lock horns in Champions League again
13:30 , Jamie BraidwoodNewcastle can look forward to a romantic trip to Barcelona for the first time since the 2002-03 season, having lost to the La Liga leaders on the opening night of this season’s league phase. Marcus Rashford scored twice as Barcelona won 2-1 at St James’ Park in September.

Man City and Real Madrid meet in knockouts in fifth consecutive year
13:15 , Jamie BraidwoodManchester City will play Real Madrid in a Champions League knockout tie for the fifth consecutive season.
Pep Guardiola’s side have lost their previous two, but won 2-1 in the Bernabeu in December when they met in the league phase.
The winners of that tie would face either Bayern Munich or Atalanta in the quarter-finals.
Their recent meetings have gone like this:
2025/26, last-16: ?
2024/25, play-offs: Real Madrid win 6-3 on aggregate
2023/24, quarter-finals: 4-4 on aggregate, Real Madrid win on pens

Liverpool return to Galatasaray for second time this season
13:00 , Jamie BraidwoodLiverpool will return to Istanbul for the second time this season, following a 1-0 defeat early in the league phase, before hosting the Turkish side at Anfield in the second leg.
Galatasaray knocked out Juventus in the play-offs and boast a fearsome home record, as Liverpool found out in late September.

Chelsea and PSG's rivalry renewed
12:45 , Jamie BraidwoodChelsea’s meeting with holders PSG will invoke memories of last summer’s Club World Cup final, as the Blues produced a stunning performance to defeat the newly crowded Champions League winners in New Jersey.
The teams met in a series of Champions League clashes around the mid-2010s, facing off in the knockout rounds in three years in a row. A rivalry renewed.
The Blues will go to PSG in the first leg - as Liam Rosenior returns to France, having taken charge of Strasbourg earlier this season - before hosting the Champions League winners at Stamford Bridge.

A path opens up for Arsenal in the Champions League?
12:30 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal now have an excellent opportunity to go on a run in this season’s competition and will play Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 before either Sporting or Norway’s Bodo/Glimt, who will attempt to continue their fairytale run after knocking out last year’s finalists Inter.
The Gunners boasted the best record in the league phase to qualify as top seeds and were handed perhaps the most favourable draw of the six English sides.
Mikel Arteta’s side would not need to face any of PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City or Liverpool before the final they are to reach a first Champions League showpiece since 2006.
Arsenal land dream Champions League draw as Chelsea, Man City and Newcastle face heavyweights
12:16 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal have landed a dream Champions League draw and will not need to face a traditional heavyweight before the semi-finals, while the five other English sides all face potentially daunting ties from the last-16 onwards.
Chelsea will play Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain while Manchester City will once again face Real Madrid and Newcastle will take on Barcelona in a glamour draw as the knockout stage bracket was revealed. Liverpool drew Galatasaray while Tottenham were paired with Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool out for revenge
12:11 , Will CastleLiverpool will be somewhat haunted by their last trip to Istanbul.
Coming off their first loss of the season after their 100 percent start to 2025/26, Liverpool went to Galatasaray in September needing to get back on track. Instead, they fell to defeat once more.
What followed was the club’s worst run of form for 71 years as their Premier League title defence fell apart at the seams.
Arne Slot’s side have somewhat found their feet again and will look to inflict revenge on the Turkish giants.

A story of cruelty and disgrace: How Serie A’s finest fell to Champions League humiliation
12:03 , Richard Jolly“Cruelty and miracles, it’s the Champions League,” read the headline in Gazzetta dello Sport. “But we’re among Europe’s greats.” Just. And if the definition of great is a loose one, Italy had grounds to be grateful for play-off drama in Bergamo. Not for the last time, they will hope, given that the Azzurri face Northern Ireland there next month, seeking to preserve their World Cup hopes.
A great footballing nation’s Champions League campaign almost ended in February. Instead, Atalanta performed their feat of escapology, losing the first leg 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund, winning the second 4-1, courtesy of Lazar Samardzic’s 98th-minute penalty.
Juventus narrowly failed in theirs: demolished 5-2 in Istanbul last week, they were reduced to 10 men in Turin, beat Galatasaray 3-0 in regulation time and conceded in the 105th and 119th minutes. The miracle and then, three hours later, the cruelty.

A familiar opponent
11:57 , Mike JonesFor Manchester City it’ll be familiar opponents as they take on Real Madrid in the last-16.
City and Madrid have played each other in the knockout rounds of five or the last six seasons.
City have progressed twice with Real going through three times.
That said, Pep Guardiola’s men look like the more in-form team but Real can never be written off in this competition as Man City only know too well.
Can Tottenham spring a surprise?
11:55 , Mike JonesTottenham’s Premier League struggles overshadow how well they’ve been performing in the Champions League.
A top eight finish saw them advance to the last-16 after they qualified for the competition due to winning the Europa League last year.
Though they are definitely in a relegation battle in the English top flight on the European stage Spurs have found success.
So much so, that the last-16 clash with Atletico Madrid isn’t as one-sided as most would believe. It’ll be a huge tie for Tottenham but should they come through it they can take that confidence into the Premier League.
Arsenal sitting pretty
11:51 , Mike JonesThere are no ‘easy’ games in the Champions League but Arsenal have come as close to it as possible with that draw.
They take on Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 before facing either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting CP in the quarters.
Of all the Premier League clubs involved in the knockout rounds, Mikel Arteta will be the happiest manager.

A league phase repeat for Newcastle
11:48 , Mike JonesIt was either Chelsea or Barcelona for Newcastle during the last-16.
They’ve been drawn against the Spanish opposition in a repeat of one of their earlier league phase matches.
Barcelona got the better of Newcastle then, coming out 2-1 winners at St. James’ Park.
Can Newcastle overcome the odds this time around?
'PSG hold no fear for Chelsea'
11:45 , Mike JonesReacting to the Champions League last-16 draw, Chelsea's director of football David Barnard said:
"PSG, we've played them quite a few times. They are the reigning champions but people will probably refer to what happened in the summer at the Club World Cup. It'll be tough but it holds no fear for us.
"You can look at the bracket but you can't take things for granted."

Chelsea set for repeat of Club World Cup final
11:42 , Mike JonesChelsea are facing PSG in the Champions League last-16 which is a repeat of last summer’s Club World Cup final.
Chelsea won that match 3-0 but over two legs the reigning Champions League holders will pose a more difficult test.
Arsenal's route to the final
11:38 , Mike JonesFinally, Arsenal have been given the kindest draw of any of the English teams.
They will take on Bayer Leverkusen in the last-16 in what should be a comfortable two legs for the Premier League leaders.
After that, Arsenal are on the same path as this year’s surprise team Bodo/Glimt who will play the Gunners in the quarter-finals should they get their. The other possible team Arsenal could play at this stage is Sporting CP who face Bodo/Glimt in the last-16.
During the semi-final stage is where things will ramp up for Mikel Arteta’s men.
They will either face Premier League or LaLiga opposition in the form of Newcastle, Tottenham, Atletico Madrid or Barcelona.
Tottenham's route to the final
11:35 , Mike JonesTottenham need some redemption in the Champions League having struggled in the Premier League this seaosn.
Spurs have been drawn against Atletico Madrid in the last-16 in what is probably the toughest fixture on the blue side of the bracket.
In the quarter-final, it will probably be Barcelona but there is the possibility of an all-Premier League clash with Newcastle should the Magpies progress.
The semi-finals will see Spurs take on one of Bodo/Glimt, Sporting CP, Bayer Leverkusen or Arsenal.
Newcastle's route to the final
11:32 , Mike JonesOver to the blue side of the bracket now.
Newcastle were placed here during the play-off round draw and will take on Barcelona.
That’s a tough fixture for the round of 16 and Eddie Howe’s men will need the confidence it will bring should they get through it.
In the quarter-finals, Newcastle will face either Tottenham or Atletico Madrid.
For the semis, the Magpies would play one of Bodo/Glimt, Sporting CP, Bayer Leverkusen or Arsenal.
Man City's route to the final
11:29 , Mike JonesPep Guardiola’s team are going to have to win the Champions League the tough way this season.
They have been drawn on the silver side of the bracket which is undoubtably the more difficult side.
First up for the Man City is Real Madrid. It’s becoming one of the more common Champions League fixtures and City will play the Spanish giants in the last-16.
Should they get through those matches a quarter-final awaits against Bayern Munich, or possibly Atalanta.
In the semi-finals, City are likely to take on a previous Champions League winner with PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool or Galatasaray (they are the only team not to have won the tournament out of the four) their possible opponents.
Liverpool's route to the final
11:26 , Mike JonesThe silver side of the bracket seems to be the tougher route to the Champions League final.
That’s where Arne Slot’s Liverpool find themselves though, on paper, they have one of the kinder last-16 ties.
Liverpool will take on Turkish side Galatasaray in the round of 16 before coming up against either Chelsea or PSG in the quarter-finals.
Things don’t get easier as they will play one of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Atalanta or Bayern Munich in the semis.
Chelsea's route to the final
11:23 , Mike JonesLet’s break down how each of the English clubs can reach the showpiece in Budapest.
First up, Chelsea.
Liam Rosenior’s men will play the Champions League holders, Paris Saint-Germain, in the last-16.
Should they come through that match they will take on either Liverpool or Galatasaray in the quarter-finals.
In the semi-finals, Chelsea will play one of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Atalanta or Bayern Munich.

Champions League draw live
11:00 , Mike JonesOkay then, here we go.
The draw for the Champions League knockout rounds is just starting.
It is a seeded draw meaning teams can only be placed in certain sections.
The eight sides that qualified automatically have been paired up based on their final league position and they will play one of two teams that came through the play-off rounds.
The British interest is high with six Premier League clubs having all reached the knockout rounds proper.
The draw ceremony is about to begin! A reminder of what will be decided...
10:55 , Jamie BraidwoodBarcelona and Chelsea will be drawn against:
- PSG or Newcastle
Liverpool and Tottenham will be drawn against:
- Atletico Madrid or Galatasaray
Sporting and Manchester City will be drawn against:
- Bodo/Glimt or Real Madrid
Arsenal and Bayern Munich will be drawn against:
- Atalanta or Bayer Leverkusen
Arsenal and Man City will play their Champions League second leg before Carabao Cup final
10:35 , Jamie BraidwoodMarch promises to be a major month for all six English teams in today’s draw - for example, Arsenal and Manchester City have the Premier League title race, the Carabao Cup final, and the FA Cup fifth round to play, as well as the Champions League last-16.
The Carabao Cup final is set for Sunday 22 March - with the Champions League last-16 second legs then taking place that midweek.
Arsenal will be at home for their last-16 second leg on Tuesday March 17, likely the same night that Manchester City plays their second leg, also at home.

Will we see a Newcastle v Chelsea fixture pile-up?
10:20 , Jamie BraidwoodAs outlined earlier this morning, there is a 50/50 chance that Newcastle play Chelsea in the Champions League last-16. If not, Newcastle will play Barcelona and Chelsea will play PSG.
If there is an all-English tie, though, the teams will play each other three times in a row - as the Champions League dates will fall either side of their Premier League fixture meeting on Saturday 14th March. If that is the case, the run will be as follows:
10/11 March 2026: Newcastle v Chelsea - Champions League first leg
14 March 2026: Chelsea v Newcastle - Premier League
17/18 March 2026: Chelsea v Newcastle - Champions League second leg

Gordon keeping Mbappe, Kane, Haaland company in goalscorer chart
10:05 , Jamie BraidwoodAnthony Gordon’s hat-trick against Qarabag took his Champions League tally to 10 goals this season, as the Newcastle and England winger rivals Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Erling Haaland in the race for the Champions League top scorer award.
- 1 - Kylian Mbappe, 13 goals, eight games
- 2 - Anthony Gordon, 10 goals, 10 games
- 3 - Harry Kane, 8 goals, eight games
- 4 - Erling Haaland - 7 goals, eight games
- 5 - Victor Osimhen - 7 goals, eight games

Real Madrid’s win a ‘victory for everyone who stands against racism’, says Aurelien Tchouameni
09:50 , Jamie BraidwoodReal Madrid’s win against Benfica in the Champions League was a “victory for everyone who stands against racism”, according to midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, as Vinicius Jr scored the decisive goal a week after he accused opponent Gianluca Prestianni of directing a racist slur at him.
Vinicius said “the dance goes on” as he posted on Instagram after sending Real Madrid through to the last-16 with a 2-1 win at the Bernabeu. The Brazilian forward said he was racially abused by Prestianni after celebrating towards the Benfica fans in last week’s first leg in Lisbon.
Prestianni, who denies the allegations, was provisionally suspended from the match while Uefa investigates the incident. But there was an outpouring of support from the Real Madrid supporters, with a “no to racism” banner displayed before kick-off.

Who are Bodo/Glimt? How Norwegian minnows pulled off the Champions League’s biggest ever shock
09:35 , Jamie BraidwoodNorway’s Bodo/Glimt’s fairytale run in the Champions League continued as they knocked out last year’s finalists Inter Milan in one of the tournament’s biggest ever shocks.
A season on from becoming the first Norwegian side to reach the semi-finals of a European competition, following their impressive run in the Europa League, head coach Kjetil Knutsen’s minnows have continued their remarkable rise by qualifying for the Champions League last-16, and as tournament debutants.
Bodo/Glimt, who were in Norway’s second-tier as recently as 2017, are the northernmost team to ever play in the Champions League. Based in the small town of Bodo, a 16-hour drive north of Oslo and inside the edge of the Arctic Circle, its whole population of 55,000 could have travelled to Inter’s iconic San Siro and there still would have been plenty of empty seats.
Bodo/Glimt also operate on a budget that is a fraction of the size of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Who are Bodo/Glimt? Explaining Champions League’s biggest ever shock
Arsenal will play either Bayer Leverkusen or Atalanta
09:20 , Jamie BraidwoodAfter topping the league phase, Arsenal will be hopeful of a favourable draw as they ready themselves for the Champions League round of 16.
Mikel Arteta’s side won all eight of their games for the concession of just four goals in an impressive start to their continental campaign.
The stakes will be raised, though, by knockout football and Arteta will have to manage the demands of also chasing a long-awaited Premier League title.
Having been paired with Bayern Munich, the second-placed league phase finisher, Arsenal now know that it will be one of two sides in the last 16.
The London club will face one of Atalanta or Bayer Leverkusen.
Leverkusen secured a place in the last-16 after a 0-0 draw with Olympiacos completed a 2-0 aggregate win, while Atalanta completed a comeback from 2-0 down from the first leg to knock out Borussia Dortmund.

Will it be Real Madrid again for Man City? Or Bodo/Glimt?
09:05 , Jamie BraidwoodManchester City will continue their chase for more Champions League success as they find out their round of 16 opponents.
Pep Guardiola’s remain in the hunt for four trophies this season having narrowed the gap to Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, and may fancy their chances of a deep run in Europe.
Despite a couple of set-backs, City successfully navigated into the top eight in the league phase and avoided the knockout play-offs, and now await their next opposition having been paired with Sporting Lisbon.
A glamour tie with Real Madrid, who they have played in each of the last four seasons, could await, or might it be another trip north to face Bodo/Glimt?
The Norwegian side defeated Guardiola’s team 3-1 in January, and have continued their remarkable journey by knocking out last year’s runners-up Inter Milan 5-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool to face a rematch with either Atletico Madrid or Galatasaray
08:50 , Jamie BraidwoodFollowing an up-and-down league phase, Liverpool booked a direct route into the last 16 of the Champions League and now wait to see who their opponents will be.
Arne Slot’s side ultimately won six and lost two of their eight games to claim third spot in the table, although endured a couple of rough spots during that spell – most notably when suffering a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to PSV in November.
But they are safely into the knockouts and in a season where a proper Premier League title challenge has failed to materialise, Europe offers an opportunity to still pick up some silverware.
The Reds also played both Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray in the league phase and will now face one of those teams in the last-16.
They beat Atletico 3-2 thanks to Virgil van Dijk’s last-minute header, but lost 1-0 to Galatasaray in Turkey - the second loss of a four-game losing slump in September and October.

Tottenham’s potential Champions League opponents ahead of last 16 draw
08:35 , Jamie BraidwoodWith their form in the Premier League putting them at risk of relegation from the English top flight Tottenham are seeking solace in the the Champions League and the excitement that comes European nights under the lights.
Spurs impressed during the league phase and finished fourth in the table behind only Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. They won five of their eight matches and only lost once with that defeat coming at the Parc de Princes in a 5-3 scoreline against Paris Saint-Germain.
They will face either Atletico Madrid or Galatasaray.
Alexander Sorloth scored a hat-trick as Atletico eventually progressed past Club Brugge 7-4 on aggregate, after the Belgian side came from 2-0 and 3-2 to snatch a 3-3 draw on home soil last week.
Victor Osimhen and Baris Alper Yilmaz scored in extra time for Galatasaray as the Turkish club knocked out Juventus, winning 7-5 on aggregate.

Chelsea's other potential opponent is holders Paris Saint-Germain
08:20 , Jamie BraidwoodChelsea will be hoping to plot another deep run in the Champions League as they prepare to find out their round of 16 opposition.
The Premier League side secured a top-eight finish during the initial phase despite parting ways with manager Enzo Maresca, and Liam Rosenior will now have a chance to oversee his first European knockout campaign.
Twice winners of the competition, Chelsea have a good recent trophy record, following up Conference League success with a Club World Cup crown last summer, though will perhaps covet this rather more.
There could be English opposition next up, with Newcastle demolishing Qarabag 9-3 on aggregate, and Paris Saint-Germain the other possibility.
Defending champions PSG led Monaco 3-2 after the first leg and a 2-2 at the Parc de Princes was enough to send them through. Barcelona will play whoever is not drawn against Chelsea.

Newcastle will take on either Chelsea in all-Premier League clash, or Barcelona
08:05 , Jamie BraidwoodNewcastle United are proving that they are a competitive Champions League team as they look to progress further in the European top-flight.
Four wins and two draws (plus two defeats) was not enough to ensure that Eddie Howe’s side finished in the top eight spots of the league phase table and a battling 1-1 draw with PSG on the final matchday of the league phase meant both teams entered the play-off stage.
Newcastle were drawn against Qarabag who finished 22nd in the table and Azerbaijani side’s form all but abandoned them in the first leg as Anthony Gordon inspired the Magpies to a 6-1 rout in Baku. Newcastle then finished off the job in the second leg to progress 9-3 on aggregate.
Four wins from their last five matches across all competitions puts Newcastle in good form but will they be strong enough to battle past their opponents in the round of 16?
Coming through the play-off stage means that Newcastle will only face one of two opponents: Chelsea or Barcelona. Those two clubs have been paired together after finishing fifth and sixth in the league phase and will be drawn on opposite sides of the bracket.

So, the draw: How does it work?
07:05 , Jamie BraidwoodThe teams have been grouped into seeded couplets according to how they finished in the league phase.
So, for example, Arsenal (who finished top) or Bayern Munich (who finished second) will play Bayer Leverkusen, who defeated Olympiacos, or Atalanta, who knocked out Borussia Dortmund.
The eight teams who progressed automatically from the league phase are seeded and will play the second leg at home in the last-16. The eight teams who progressed from the play-offs are unseeded.

Hello and welcome
07:00 , Jamie BraidwoodOh it’s a good day: the Champions League knockout draw for the last-16, quarter-finals and semi-finals takes place this morning.
Five Premier League teams – Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City – had already qualified for the knockout rounds, with Newcastle joining them via the play-offs this week.
The outline of the draw has already been made, with teams grouped into small four-way pools of possible opponents based on their league placings.
