Champion rodeo rider’s 3-year-old daughter killed in front of her in freak horse accident, report says

A champion rodeo rider’s three-year-old daughter was killed in front of her in a freak accident, according to a new report.

Kelsie Domer, a Women’s Professional Rodeo Association world champion, and her husband, Ryan Domer, lost Oaklynn last Thursday after one of their horses fell onto the mother and daughter, according to a Facebook post by Rodeo Life.

Efforts were made to try to save Oaklynn’s life, but they failed, Rodeo Life reported. It’s unclear whether Kelsie was injured in the accident.

The family lives in Dublin, Texas, but has traveled across the country on the rodeo circuit.

“Oaklynn packed a lot in her short time with us. Traveling the rodeo circuit all over the U.S., hitting the practice pen with mom and dad, and loving her family with all her heart,” the 3-year-old’s obituary read.

The obituary said Oaklynn loved horses and going to “yodeos.”

“She did not know a stranger and lit up the room the minute she made her grand entrance,” the obituary read.

Oaklynn leaves behind her parents, two sets of grandparents and three great-grandparents.

Speaking of Kelsie and Ryan, Rodeo Life wrote, “They are two of many grieving people, stunned by the loss of a child. Their pain will never disappear, nor will the love they have for Oaklynn.

“Through a tested faith, a lot of prayer and time, the pain they have will likely soften, but moments of grief will always fill their souls.”

Horse and dog health company Simply Equine & K9 paid tribute to Oaklynn on Facebook. Kelsie has been a Simply Equine team member for four years.

“Our hearts are shattered beyond words,” the company said on Friday. “Sweet Oaklynn gained her angel wings far too soon. Please continue praying for Kelsie, Ryan, her family and everyone that loved this precious soul.”

The Rope Like A Girl foundation is accepting donations for the Domers to help with expenses related to Oaklynn’s death.

“The outpouring of support we’ve received in Oaklynn’s memory has been unprecedented, and we’re so very thankful,” the nonprofit wrote on Facebook Monday.
