Chad Johnson promised to help Ja’Marr Chase pay the fine for an over-the-top TD celebration

In terms of recent NFL lore, few could match the “demands” of being a diva wide receiver quite like Chad Johnson. The former Cincinnati Bengal was renowned for the elaborate and extended ways he drew attention to himself, especially with his touchdown celebrations.

It now appears Johnson will take up on a promise to help current Bengals star receiver Ja’Marr Chase become a diva receiver in his own right. On Thursday, Chase professed that he would grab a TV camera to celebrate a touchdown and pay homage to Johnson so long as Johnson agreed to pay the expected fine after the fact. Note: The NFL does not frown upon general team celebrations of scores, only elaborate individual celebrations.

It’s the latest move from Chase, a perennial All-Pro playmaker, showing he’s more than fine putting more attention on himself:

Johnson wasted almost no time responding directly to Chase’s proclamation, stating he would foot the expensive bill of Chase’s upcoming stunt.

Now that, my friends, is quite a promise to make. I have no doubt Johnson will hold up his end of the bargain. That means you should stay tuned for the next time Chase hits paydirt for Cincinnati, which could potentially happen this Sunday night against the rival Buffalo Bills.

It should be a wild time.
