After a two-month trial filled with strange and gruesome testimony, prosecutors are set to deliver their final arguments in the case of Chad Daybell, who stands accused of killing his wife and his new girlfriend’s two youngest children. The 55-year-old is facing three counts of first-degree murder, insurance fraud, and conspiracy to commit murder and grand theft in connection with the deaths of his late wife, Tammy Daybell, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan.
Prosecutors allege that Daybell promoted apocalyptic spiritual beliefs to justify the murders, driven by his desire for money, sex, and power. They have indicated that they will seek the death penalty if Daybell is convicted. On the other hand, Daybell's defense attorney argues that there is insufficient evidence linking Daybell to the deaths or proving that Tammy Daybell was killed rather than dying from natural causes.
