Monday was voting day in Chad, where nearly 8 million voters were eligible to choose their next president, after three years of military rule under Mahamat Idriss Déby. Analysts widely expect the incumbent to win.
Also, South Africa's ruling ANC party will not be holding a disciplinary hearing for president and suspended member Jacob Zuma on Tuesday. Last week, the party scheduled the reckoning but it's now said the hearing will happen after the May 29 elections. Security concerns seem to be the major issue.
Finally, thousands of people in Kenya are being evicted and their homes are being demolished. This follows a government order for anyone living near rivers and dams to move to higher ground in the wake of heavy rains and flooding which have ravaged East Africa in recent weeks.
