Certified Nintendo fangirl and Rosalina actor Brie Larson says Super Mario Galaxy is one of her favorite games

Princess Rosalina in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is less than a month away, and we still don't know all that much about the adaptation's plot. Seems like we're in safe hands, though, with lovers of the source material behind the scenes...While introducing the new trailer at the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, Rosalina voice actor Brie Larson said it was "incredibly special" for her to be a part of the film since it's "one of her favorite games." "This is a huge moment for me. I watch these, I've played all of these games my entire life," she added. "I cannot wait for you to experience this film on the big screen. You are the best fans in the world, I am so grateful for your support... and let's play more games!"

Over the years, Larson has made no secret of the fact that she's a big Nintendo head, having posted several YouTube videos of herself enjoying titles like Luigi's Mansion 3 and Animal Crossing. "I have the dock set up at home so that when I get home I can play on a bigger screen, but I'm actually really accustomed to using the handheld version just because that's what I end up using so much," she once said of her Switch in an interview with Not Quite Susie and other bloggers. "I take it with me at work and it what's I use in between takes. Some of the most dramatic roles of my career I'm playing video games in between takes just as a way to stay in the flow and to keep my focus and to just be present while also loosening up and having a good time."Starring the voice talents of Benny Safdie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Charlie Day, and Chris Pratt, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to follow Mario and Luigi as they travel to outer space to team up with powerful princess Rosalina and defeat Bowser's vengeful son, Bowser Jr.A recently-released poster revealed that Wart, a deep-cut Super Mario 2 villain, will be one of the family flick's antagonists – alongside Mouser and Birdo. He'll be played by Wednesday's Luiz Guzmán. Other newly announced names include Issa Rae (as Honey Queen) and Donald Glover (as Yoshi). It's heading to cinemas on April 1, 2026.
