NEW DELHI: Even as the Supreme Court will start hearing on a bunch of petitions challenging the nullification of Article 370 and degrading Jammu and Kashmir’s status to a Union Territory (UT) after bifurcating it into two, the Centre is believed to be making arrangements for holding Lok Sabha, and also possibly assembly, elections in the UTs.
Sources close to the central government told TOI that 2024 Lok Sabha election has to be held in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and Ladakh. “The Lok Sabha would certainly be held in J&K and Ladakh. In most probability, assembly election will also be held in J&K along with the Lok Sabha polls,” they said.
