Central Queensland police officer stood down after alleged drug possession

A Queensland Police senior constable will appear in court after he was allegedly found with performance-enhancing drugs in Central Queensland.

A police spokesman said the 31-year-old man was charged with unlawful possession of border-controlled drugs.

The spokesman said the officer had been stood down.

"In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct," he said.

The senior constable is expected to face Mackay Magistrates Court on November 2.
