KOLKATA: Rain and rallies spoiled yet another day of business in the shopping hubs of the city, barely 10 days ahead of the year's biggest festival.
As the city woke up to an overcast sky on Tuesday morning, followed by intermittent spells of rain, a majority of shoppers did not head towards markets in the first half of the day. Later, when the skies cleared up and traders hoped for customers, multiple rallies by Left-affiliated organizations converged on Esplanade, choking the central business district.
