Central Asia boosts green energy, infrastructure and SMEs with EBRD funds

EBRD Central Asia Mongolia the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Renewable Energy Uzbekistan Kazakhstan CA Tajikistan

In 2025, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested almost $2bn (€1.7bn) through 120 projects in Central Asia and Mongolia. This represents one of EBRD’s strongest operational results in the region for more than a decade.

53% of the EBRD's investment went to promote renewable economy projects. In the lending department, 68% of loans went to private entrepreneurial initiatives.
