Celtics to focus on playing well to end season with seeding likely set: Mazzulla

After the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics find themselves almost certainly locked into the Eastern Conference’s second seed to close out the 2022-23 NBA season, meaning the team could rest players considerably to end their campaign and prepare themselves mentally and physically for another run at the title.

But don’t expect them to, based on what we’re hearing from head coach Joe Mazzulla via NBC Sports Boston’s Darren Hartwell. “I really want to win. I like winning,” said Mazzulla, despite just having said it will be a game-to-game approach to close out the season.

The Boston coach also suggested that playing good basketball to close out the season will be the primary focus of the team. “There’s nothing we can do about (seeding),” he explained. “It’s out of our control.”

“What we can control is playing the way we play. The last 11 games we’re 8-3, No. 1 in both offense and defense, so we’re doing a lot of good things. We just have to keep that going.”
