Now that Dec. 15 has arrived and with it a larger pool of players able to be traded, fans of the Boston Celtics are getting a bit antsier than usual for a move around the margins.
Such a move sounds doubtful, however, at least for one player who has reportedly been on the Celtics’ radar.
Per Yahoo’s Jake Fischer, the Celtics “don’t appear very active in the early trade chatter around the league” regarding previous interest in San Antonio Spurs big man Jakob Poeltl, though that may be because of better-than-expected contributions from backup center Luke Kornet and veteran big man Blake Griffin.
Boston may yet want to load up a bit on their frontcourt rotation to find a more mobile big able to defend on the perimeter but also in the interior even with starting center Robert Williams III returning soon based on what we’ve seen for the team playing against bigger lineups.

But it seems that a player of Poeltl’s caliber is more than what the Celtics are likely looking for ahead of the deadline at present — and for good reason.
