If anyone on the Boston Celtics knows a thing or two about going cold from beyond the arc for a very, very long time and coming out on the other side a flamethrower from deep, it’s Celtics forward Grant Williams.
After getting picked up by Boston in the 2019 NBA draft, the Tennessee product famously went 0-for-25 from 3-point range to start his career despite a solid record from deep at the NCAA level. Undeterred, Williams kept shooting and now sports the team’s best 3-point percentage despite that record-breaking cold spell. So, it should come as no surprise to learn Williams and star Boston forward Jayson Tatum had recently spoken about the latter’s recent 20-attempt cold streak from deep.
“Me and Grant talked on the bus today,” related the St. Louis native after his 51-point explosion against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, much of it carved out from beyond the 3-point arc.
