The mother of Jaylen Brown reportedly endured a break-in at her home in Wellesley, Massachusetts on Sunday, Dec. 15. The Boston Celtics forward missed practice on Tuesday to be with her during this difficult time.
Brown did return to practice on Wednesday ahead of the Celtics’ game against the Chicago Bulls on Thursday. He is averaging 23.8 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 21 games on the season.

Boston released a statement:
“The safety of Celtics players, families, and staff is of the utmost importance to us. We are aware of the recent incidents and are working with authorities. The team will have no further comment at this time.”
Break-In Under Investigation
The case is considered active and under investigation, with both Brown’s mother and nephew at the home when the incident occurred. NBA security has also been involved.
On Sunday, at approximately 8:21 p.m. EST, the Wellesley Police Department responded to a call for a possible breaking and entering and the check confirmed an attempted break-in with a broken window on site.
Nothing appears to have been disturbed or stolen at the residence and no injuries were reported, though the investigation is still not complete.
“We are vigorously investigating this breaking and entering, as we do all residential breaks,” Wellesley Police said in a statement. “We continue to encourage residents to utilize their home security systems if they have them.”

Portis took to social media to share the story and video of the break-in and alleged burglars into his home.

The Bucks forward revealed it occurred while he was at a game and prized possessions were stolen.
Both the NBA and NFL have issued warnings to players about the growing threat of burglaries.
