Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is known for his passionate style. With the press, he is curt and direct. With his players and staff, he is deeply emotive, even if that means being intensely stoic. In his first year as a professional coach, Mazzulla’s reputation is setting in as a man of vigor.
During the opening round of the NBA playoffs, Mazzulla was asked if his style might miss the mark. Was his message registering with his players the press wondered? “It’s the playoffs,” Mazzulla said to the media ahead of the start of Game 1. “There’s no such thing as too intense.”
Apparently, the quip landed. Fast forward to Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and the Celtics marketing team had taken Mazzulla’s remarks and turned it into a promotional t-shirt for fans.

Mazzulla is a New England native and so far his proclivities and intensity have been well-received by Celtics fans. This t-shirt and the associated line only adds to that mythology.
Boston is hosting the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Mazzulla and the Celtics will be looking to take down a divisional rival while punching a return ticket to the conference finals and beyond.
Per one NBA analyst, every other player could be on the table in a big enough deal. https://t.co/1ABZoXI0I8
