When the trade that brought future Hall of Fame big man Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2007 was complete, the energy in the city of Boston and beyond surrounding the Celtics was palpable.
The storied franchise had endured an extended period of time as a mediocre to bad ball club between their last era of contention under legendary small forward Larry Bird, with a few solid seasons in the early aughts with Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker making some postseason noise. But it was nothing like how Garnett immediately shifted the culture and the vibes surrounding the Celtics, which fans embraced excitedly.
In a recent clip produced to honor that moment in time as Boston raises Garnett’s No. 5 jersey up to the rafters, a cross-section of fans were interviewed by the team regarding how they felt when The Big Ticket punched his own to Boston.
Check out the clip embedded above to hear what they each had to say about when they knew KG was on his way to the Celtics.
