Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III wanted to spend some of his summer giving back to the community he grew up in, and elected to host a youth basketball camp in Shreveport, Louisiana this week.
“Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and giving the youth something positive to do,” Williams said to Roger Benjamin of LSU-Shreveport athletics’ sports information department. “We’re taking the negative energy and turning it into something positive.”
“I want to get guys in here who helped me make it, like my godfather Rickey Evans,” added Timelord. “He had a good formula, and he’s in here getting him to deliver life messages to these kids.”
“It’s always emotional seeing the support here, to know that I have a fan base in places other than Boston,” suggested Williams.
As Boston preps the players it hopes to make history with next season for the task at hand, there’s a new book out on the history of the Red Sox out and another on the Celtics on the way. https://t.co/79oVxfhoY8
