The Boston Celtics dropped Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Milwaukee Bucks, playing mediocre defense and missing open shots against the reigning NBA champs on their own home floor.
The Celtics struggled to score inside against the Bucks as tends to be the case for a defense designed to take away the interior, and with just 33% shooting from the floor and 36% efficiency from beyond the arc, it is going to take a more comprehensive and accurate approach to scoring in Game 2 for the Celtics to stay out of trouble moving forward in the series.
With All-Star forward Jayson Tatum the only Celtics player breaking 20 points, it is clear the team will need to go back to the drawing board on that end of the court, and to lean into their defensive identity on the other end if they want this series to be a competitive one.
