It seems former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is not the only person with Celtics ties in the mix to be the next head coach of the Houston Rockets.
Per the Athletic’s Kelly Iko, former Boston assistant and 2008 titlist Sam Cassell is reportedly set to interview with the Rockets about their head coaching vacancy on Sunday, three days after Udoka.
Udoka and ex-Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel are seen as the likely front-runners. However, Cassell’s track record with the Sixers and his history with the Houston organization could get him in the mix with a good interview.
His ties to current 76ers star guard James Harden, who the Rockets are reportedly interested in pursuing this offseason, could also be a selling point.
