Star forward Jaylen Brown recently agreed to a five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension with the Boston Celtics, making it the richest contract in NBA history any player had ever signed up to that point. This has elicited a fair amount of criticism from fans and analysts alike as they grapple with the sticker shock of such a massive deal for a non-top-ten player in the league.
But former Celtics center and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins pushed back on such takes on a recent episode of “Sports Center,” making it clear that he believes the Georgia native has earned his supermax extension.
