Brendan Rodgers: “It looked like we got off to the perfect start but sadly it wasn’t given. My overriding feeling is we didn’t give away much but we were a little passive. They got a bit of luck just before half-time and a quality finish. We needed to be a bit more aggressive.

“The one player you cannot leave unmarked is the best striker in the world and Harry takes it really well.

“After that we were more aggressive and our football came alive. They were under pressure and held. Let’s go to Munich and have no regrets.

“The game is still in the balance. If we defend strong and compete. We have shown we can play football and be a threat. We gained confidence from that last period and I look forward to next week.”
