Celtic transfer update as Hoops 'still in the market' for key position with former foe 'looked at'

Celtic are reportedly still in the market for a forward this summer as part of their recruitment drive.

The Premiership champions begin their Premiership title defence on Sunday against Aberdeen and have been busy on the transfer front ahead of it. They aren't done with signings yet in a summer either, with deals over the line for Daizen Maeda, Benjamin Siegrist, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alexandro Bernabei, Jota, Moritz Jenz and Aaron Mooy.

A report from the Daily Record says that with Albian Ajeti having potential for movement out of Celtic's attacking department before the end of the window on September 1, they are 'still in the market for another frontman to further bolster the attacking options.' Ferencvaros attacker Ryan Mmaee has been heavily linked with a move to Parkhead this window and this report further enhances that rumour, stating the Moroccan international 'is one that has been looked at' over the summer.

Mmaee played for the Hungarian heavyweights in the Europa League against Celtic in 2021, notching an assist in his team's 3-2 loss at home.

The 24-year-old has 11 caps for his country and has 17 goals with 11 assists at his current club. His contract expires there in 2025.

Ajeti is one who could make way for him and winger Mikey Johnston has also been linked with a loan move to Standard Liege.
