Ange Postecoglou has his work cut out for him to land £6m rated Ardon Jashari this month as Celtic have been told Luzern don't want to sell the playmaker in January.
The Hoops are on the lookout for further reinforcements having already added Yuki Kobayashi, Tomoki Iwata and Alistair Johnston to their ranks and 20-year-old Jashari has been linked with a move. He went to the World Cup with Switzerland and is expected to be expensive for whichever club eventually lands him.
He's been linked with a move to Celtic but Luzern sporting director Remo Meyer hopes he will still be their player by the end of the month when the window closes. He said: "I currently don’t think it’s realistic that there will be a transfer with Ardon this winter. On the one hand, we have our clear ideas about the transfer fee. On the other hand, it must also suit the player.”
Up front, Hibs striker Kevin Nisbet has recently re-emerged as a target but Record Sport learned on Tuesday that Hibs do not want to sell him for any price after firing seven times in his last six games. But Celtic could test that resolve - especially if they end up losing Giorgos Giakoumakis who wasn't seen at training ahead of their clash with St Mirren.
Josip Juranovic is another player who has been linked with an exit and Southampton are the latest club said to be keen but Postecoglou isn't in a rush to force any deals - in or out. He said: "No great urgency. By bringing in three players early, we're in a position now where we're not really on tenterhooks in January.
"If we do happen to lose players, we aren't scrambling around to try to replace them. We've got a really strong squad, which I'm happy with, and we can make the decision over incomings or exits without any need for panic.
"Our planning has been to get our business done early. We're still active - I think there's probably still space for one more.
"If no one exits through this window, that's fine. Yeah, we've got a big squad, but with our schedule, everyone will contribute."
