Celtic transfer exit confirmed as defender's former club hold option for permanent deal

Celtic defender Osaze Urhoghide has signed a loan deal to return to Belgian club KV Oostende with an option to buy.

The English centre-back - who can also play at right-back - spent time on loan at the Belgian First Division club last season after a move to Parkhead from Sheffield Wednesday last summer failed to provide regular minutes. He has now penned another loan abroad but this one come with 'a purchase option.' Oostende have been pursuing a move for the 22-year-old all summer and Urhoghide is set to depart Celtic permanently two years before his 2025 contract expiry and one competitive appearance for the Premiership champions.

Executive president Gauthier Ganaye said: "Osaze proved last season that he was an absolute added value in our team. We wanted to keep him with us for longer, but at first we didn't find an agreement with Celtic. However, Osaze himself expressed the wish to return to KVO.

"We therefore kept in touch with him and Celtic. Over the past week, however, the case has gained momentum. Osaze is happy that he is returning here.

"We are very pleased that we have a strong holder in the defence and also someone who already knows the way the club and trainer work.

"Now we just wait for offensive reinforcements and then we are armed to play a competitive season.”
