Celtic top Rangers in 'best supported football clubs' table as Hoops eclipse Real Madrid and Liverpool

Celtic and Rangers are the only two Scottish clubs among the 100 best supported clubs in world football this season.

The Hoops are at No.13 on the list, with an average attendance of 58,745 – behind Barcelona (83,383), Borussia Dortmund (80, 783), Bayern Munich (75, 008), Manchester United (76, 674), AC Milan (72, 169), Inter Milan (70, 365), Marseille (62, 877), West Ham United (62, 477), Schalke 04 (62, 194), Spurs (61, 194), Roma (60, 094) and Arsenal (60,070).

That means the Premiership champions are watched by more spectators at every home game than 16 of the 20 Premier League clubs in England, including Manchester City (53, 325), Liverpool (53, 205) and Newcastle United (52, 151). Their crowds are also bigger than those of European champions Real Madrid (56, 698) and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt (50, 250).

Rangers (49, 125) are 27th on the list, which is higher than 13 of the top-tier clubs down south. Hertha Berlin, at 26, attract just 35 more fans to each game.

Racing Strasbourg are 100th on the chart, with figures of 25, 196.
