Celtic starting team news as big Jota decision made for crucial RB Leipzig Champions League clash

Celtic star Jota MISSES OUT in the crucial showdown with RB Leipzig at Parkhead.

Ange Postecoglou's men need to claim a big three points under the lights to keep their hopes of reaching the last 16 stage of the competition alive after picking up just one point from the first three games. They currently trail Shakhtar - who sit second in the section - by three points and play host to the Ukrainian outfit on the next matchday.

But all focus will be on tonight with the Hoops going into this one off the back of a last-gasp victory over St Johnstone. The Scottish champions looked like they would be dropping points after a leveller three minutes into added time from the Perth side but Giorgos Giakoumakis fired home the winner in the 95th minute to spark wild scenes at McDiarmid Park.

Celtic are also without influential skipper Callum McGregor with the midfielder likely to be out of action until after the World Cup. Postecoglou and Co have been handed a major boost with his from the returning Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The two sides meet for the second time in six days after last week's clash in Germany.

RB Leipzig ran out 3-1 winners that night to claim their first points in the group. Goals from Christopher Nkunku and Andre Silva's double put the Hoops to the sword at the Red Bull Arena.

Speaking about Jota on Monday, Postecoglou said: "It's not unusual for someone to be sore the day before a game when we have such a quick turnaround in games.

"But it is just a matter of whether or not he's right. If he's right, we will play him, but if not, he will miss out."

CELTIC XI: Hart, Taylor, Jenz, Furuhashi, Haksabanovic, Abada, Carter-Vickers, O'Riley, Maeda, Hatate, Juranovic

Subs: Bain, Siegrist, Giakoumakis, Mooy, Turnbull, McCarthy, Bernabei, Abildgaard, Robertson, Forrest, Ralston, Welsh
