Celtic star Yang has secured exemption from mandatory military service after winning an Asian Games gold medal for South Korea.
Under South Korean rules, Yang would ordinarily have had to serve a 21-month period of military service before turning 28.
However, he was part of the South Korea squad to win the Asian Games on Saturday afternoon, beating Japan 1-0 in the final. Eom Jisung scored the only goal of the game.
Yang did not feature against Japan in the final as he was an unused substitute. He had missed the semi-final due to a hamstring issue.
The winger was one of the overage players for South Korea in the under-23 side competing in the tournament.
Due to his triumph, Yang will now not have to complete the 21-month military service, instead only having to take part in a less disruptive period of service.
He will have to complete basic training, but this will last less than a month, and then able-bodied males are required to complete community service over a three-year period.

Son Heung-Min had also won the Asian Games with South Korea, meaning he was exempt from the 21-month spell in the armed forces.
However, he still had to attend a three-week period with the military, but this was fitted in a period when he was not involved with Tottenham Hotspur.
His training featured shooting and bayonet skills, chemical, biological and radiological training, individual battle skills and first aid training.
