Celtic star misses training and becomes huge doubt for Ferencvaros and Rangers

Camilo Duran has missed Celtic training today - making him a doubt for games against Ferencvaros and Rangers.

The winger has been a key player for Martin O'Neill, who has sung his praises on several occasions, with six goals and three assists following his summer arrival from Qarabag.

After a quieter display in the weekend's derby loss, he was nowhere to be seen as the squad trained at Lennoxtown this morning.

With Celtic facing the Hungarians in the Europa League tomorrow, he would appear to be a major doubt.

Then there is the small matter of another derby, this time in the league, on Sunday.

When Duran was left out of the starting line-up against St Johnstone, O'Neill admitted they struggled without their talisman.

He said: “Our main man only came on in the last 10 or 15 minutes, so it gives you food for thought.

“Duran doesn’t start for us, he’s just been class. He looked tired in the game against St Mirren on Saturday, but I’m not surprised for the amount of things he does for us, both with the ball, which is terrific, and also the work that he does off it.

“He’s second only to Daizen Maeda in terms of closing players down. So I wanted to try and see if we could do without him, and the answer is probably not.”
