Celtic star Kyogo backed to make it at Man City by Kris Boyd

Celtic star Kyogo could 'do a job' for Manchester City, insists Kris Boyd.

The former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker addressed the 29-year-old's potential move from the Scottish Premiership to the Premier League champions.

This morning, Fabrizio Romano among other transfer gurus reported that the Japanese international is on a list of potential players City may turn to should they decide to replace Julian Alvarez, who recently moved to Atletico Madrid.

While it's unheard of for a play in Scotland to move to the champions of England, Boyd reckons Kyogo has what it takes to play for Pep Guardiola's men.

"I think for Kyogo, he is obviously struggling with his shoulder right now, but since he has came to Scotland he has been outstanding," Boyd told Sky Sports. "The goals he has scored and in terms of Man City, I would imagine if that was the case it would be for back-up.

"But can he do a job? Of course he could. I think his movement, pace and work-rate."

Meanwhile, Matt O'Riley is edging closer to a record-breaking Celtic transfer exit to Brighton.

The Parkhead midfielder, 23, is expected to complete a move to the Premier League club in the next 48 hours.

O'Riley was linked with Atalanta and Southampton this summer but Brighton have emerged as frontrunners for his signature.

Brighton have tabled a £25m offer for O'Riley with a sell-on fee included in the deal.

It's understood Celtic will hold a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the deal with negotiations progressing this week.

Celtic had held firm on their valuation of the player with multiple Atalanta bids thrown out and Southampton withdrawing from the transfer race.
