Celtic's Oh Hyeon-gyu comes under Ref Watch microscope as Dermot Gallagher delivers big verdict

Dermot Gallagher has delivered his big verdict on the talking point involving Celtic's Oh Hyeon-gyu against Kilmarnock.

The Hoops ran riot in Ayrshire as they fired home four goals and missed a penalty before the half hour mark. Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring after capitalising on slack play from the home side. He did all the hard work on his own before firing low beyond Sam Walker. Minutes later Daizen Maeda made it two with a back post header before Matt O'Riley grabbed his first of the afternoon before the 20 minute mark. He wasn't made to wait long to double his tally while Kyogo also missed from 12-yards in an incredible opening period at Rugby Park.

Liam Donnelly grabbed a consolation strike for the home side, as they settled down in the second period and stopped the league leaders from firing any further goals. One key flashpoint from Oh that had Derek McInnes claiming he should have been sent off in his post-match press conference.

His own striker Kyle Vassell had a similar challenge against Hibs earlier this season for which he was sent packing for and an appeal was unsuccessful. Del felt the challenge against his midfielder was the same type so couldn't understand the decision.

Michael Stewart analysed the clip as part of BBC Sportscene and believes it was NOT a red card but could understand why Kilmarnock would be upset over the decision during the 4-1 hammering by Ange Postecoglou's table toppers.

And now former English Premier League whistler Gallagher has run the rule over the incident during Ref Watch segment.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I think a yellow card. It is reckless. I think the referee has got it absolutely right.

"It is a high boot but he doesn't know the player is there. He puts his head in and comes into his space, but he shouldn't have his foot that high. But he doesn't lead with his studs, he doesn't go to injure anybody or see the player coming so yellow card for me.

Asked what the wording is, he added: "Careless, reckless, dangerous.

"Careless is a free-kick only. Reckless is free-kick yellow card and dangerous free-kick and red card.

"I think that is reckless. It is not a boot in the head. It is a boot that may hit his head but it didn't."
