Celtic have made progress in their pursuit of Qarabag striker Camilo Duran, with discussions ongoing over a deal understood to be worth around £2.5 million.

The 24-year-old Colombian has emerged as a key attacking target for the Parkhead side as they look to strengthen their forward line ahead of the new season.

The Celtic Way report that progress has been made on a deal for Duran, who enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with Qarabag following his move from Portimonense for under £200,000 last summer, registering 25 goal contributions in 45 appearances and scoring five goals in ten Champions League outings.

Duran is under contract with the Azerbaijani champions until summer 2028, but his performances over the past year have attracted significant interest.

Celtic’s recruitment team has been closely monitoring his progress, with his blend of European experience and consistent output placing him firmly on their shortlist as they look to add firepower this summer.

Returning manager Martin O'Neill requires attacking reinforcements this summer, with Kelechi Iheanacho currently a free agent after his contract expired following May's Scottish Cup final.

Elsewhere, Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu both returned to their parent clubs following unsuccessful loan spells last season.
