Celtic poke fun at Sunshine on Leith after Hibs Scottish Cup victory

Celtic have poked fun at Hibernian on social media after their 2-0 win over the Easter Road club in the Scottish Cup yesterday.

Daizen Maeda opened the scoring 39 minutes in, lashing home from close range after Nicolas Kuhn's initial effort was well saved by Jordan Smith.

Adam Idah then added a second for the hosts in the dying embers as they booked their place in the semi-finals, the draw for which is this evening.

Celtic are eyeing up yet another domestic treble, and after their victory yesterday, the club's official X account poked fun at 'Sunshine on Leith', which is often sung by Hibs supporters.

This morning, a post went up which read: "There was sunshine on belief at Paradise as the Hoops booked their place in the Scottish Cup semi-final!"

While Celtic defeated Hibs yesterday, the Leith side walked away from the fixture 2-1 winners just over a fortnight ago. Josh Campbell's brace eventually proved decisive in the Scottish Premiership encounter.

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers dismissed any claims of his team wanting revenge after yesterday's triumph: "Revenge is a word I never like to use in football," he said.

"It's just, they got the win on the day, we have to analyse it and see where we can be better. And we were that, right from the first whistle of the game, right to the end."
