Celtic player ratings as Hyeon-gyu Oh strikes and Daizen Maeda shines in ruthless Scottish Cup win

Celtic are in to the next round of the Scottish Cup after seeing off St Mirren at Parkhead in a 5-1 win.

It was early dominance from the Hoops that paid off when Liel Abada found Aaron Mooy on the right-hand side and his pass in to Daizen Maeda's outstretched leg proved too much for the Buddies defence. However it was bittersweet for Celtic when top scorer Kyogo was forced off with an apparent shoulder or arm knock. An eventful few interchanges followed but ultimately the home side went in to the break on top.

In the second half, Celtic were denied a second goal by the post as pressure continued to mount on Stephen Robinson's men. VAR came in to play again when a penalty was awarded to the Hoops after Richard Taylor blocked Abada's shot with his hand and was sent off for his troubles.

Reo Hatate then converted cooly to give Celtic breathing room before Hyeon-gyu Oh scored his first goal in green and white. Mark O'Hara netted a consolation from the penalty spot before Matt O'Riley scored his first of the campaign from outside the area before Hatate whipped in a stunner of his own to sink the Buddies as they booked their place in the quarter final.

Joe Hart - 6

Not much to do in the first half as in recent games. Guessed the wrong way for the Buddies pen.

Alistair Johnston - 8

Looked lively with some dangerous crosses causing bother. Nice interplay with Abada and co.

Cameron Carter-Vickers - 8

Strong as an ox at the back under some pressure at times.

Carl Starfelt - 6

Had a lot on his plate but aerial presence was spot on. Did leave his leg out for the penalty in a poor lapse of judgement.

Greg Taylor - 6

A few lapses of concentration but stood firm. The Buddies were most fruitful down his side.

Aaron Mooy - 8

Weaving most of Celtic's attacking play from the middle and provided a big assist. Replaced on the hour. Another solid game.

Callum McGregor - 6

Robbed on the ball a few times, looked a tad off it by his usual standards. Did play a big part in Oh's goal.

David Turnbull - 5

Didn't make full advantage of his start and replaced on the hour.

Jota - 7

Good on the ball and carrying a threat on the wing. Maybe felt he could have done more, replaced after 60.

Daizen Maeda - 8

Tormentor on the wing before playing centrally and scoring in nice fashion. Had a few more chances before being pushed back out and took command of the wing.

Kyogo Furuhashi - 2

Forced off after just ten minutes with a knock. A concern for Celtic with big games coming up.

Subs:

Liel Abada - 8

A lot of energy coming on for Kyogo and played his part in the goal. Looked really threatening throughout and forced the penalty.

Reo Hatate - 9

Nestled the penalty in to the corner. A stunning strike of his own to end the game.

Hyeon-gyu Oh - 7

Was in place to score his first goal for the Hoops. Looked a danger and more to come from him.

Matt O'Riley - 8

A top cross set up the scenario for the second goal and looked revived. A great finish and his first of the season.

Sead Haksabanovic - 5

Looked eager to get on the ball in the final minutes.
